Other than one afternoon this month, January, there's not been significant rain for over 2 months and not for about 2 months before that. In the past 24h there was a somewhat unusual light snow, but only produced 0.04" of ppt. Water restrictions are year-round, only varying by amount. For the first time in at least 30 years tighter water usage restrictions were started in June 2024. Total rain for 2023 was even less than the low 2024, so drought continues year over year. An approx. 80 year old pecan tree on my property hasn't produced many if any nuts since 2021. Some xeriscape/drought-tolerant plants are doing poorly without some supplemental watering which didn't used to be needed. Hot weather conditions are lasting later in the calendar year and staying warmer overnight and longer. There were record-breaking temps in the 80s at the end of December.
